On February 15th, 2019 Xtreme Elements shut down their operations for the day to partake in Excavation Competent Person Training. Approx. 40 employees successfully completed the training. The training was held to prepare the team for the up and coming construction season. Many injuries and unfortunately, fatalities, occur when working near or in excavations. Much of Xtreme Elements work includes performing “neat” excavations for footings then placing rebar and concrete in the excavations.
Although most of the excavation work for these footings are fairly shallow, the team learned that all excavations have potential hazards no matter the depth. Great conversations were held during the class discussing the challenges the company faces when trying to safely perform this work and how to overcome these challenges. Xtreme Elements plans to be in full participating in this years OSHA Trench Safety Stand Down. The Stand Down is to help with the OSHA National Emphasis Program on Trenching and Excavation and will take place June 17th thru June 21st.
